German interest in BIID?

Beitrag: # 16284Beitrag invisible »

Just wondering what the link is between BIID and Germany, as I've noticed a surprising number of German articles and websites about BIID (but none in other non-English languages) and according to Google Trends Germany has the most searches about BIID. So what's the link? Was there, like, some big German research project on BIID or something? Or is BIID more medically recognised in Germany than in other coutries?

Some people - mainly in the US - say that a majority of BIID sufferers come from Germany or close-by Central European countries or have emigrated from these countries generations ago into the US. Of course, there are three major research teams in Germany and Switzerland that intensively work on research projects. That would explain a big number of German articles in scientific journals. Nevertheless, also USA, Australia, Italy, the Netherlands and Korea (and probably more other countries) conduct BIID research projects. So, Germany is a good spot for BIID research but is not necessarily the "hot spot"...

Kind regards

Interesting topic. And yes, looking all over Europe, I also have a feeling that most of the BIID sufferers do come from Germany or its neighbourhood, you are right LAK1210...

Maybe it has something to do with the fact, that the biggest and first online communities of biid sufferers and communities in related topics are in German simply because there are so many German speaking persons in europe :-). And if a community has started it grows the public awareness of biid.
