Dear all,

Around two years ago the AMC-Amsterdam Department of Pyschiatry has initiated a scientific study on Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) and people who are sexually attracted to other amputees (acrotomophilia, sometimes called ‘devotees’) or who prefer to be amputated themselves in order to be sexually aroused (apotemnophilia, sometimes called ‘wannabees’). In the last two years a big group of individuals participated in our survey, which was very helpful for us, and we really would like to thank them again for that. In order to enlarge the group of particpants to obtain stronger and more reliable results in this study, we would like to inform everyone with BIID, acrotomophilia or apotemnophilia who did not already participated in the study about it, and invite them to participate.

The study aims to obtain as much general and condition-specific information as possible, as well as information about sexuality of a large number of individuals with BIID, acrotomphilia and apotemnophilia. It is a continuation of a previous study we have done (which can be found here: http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Ad ... ne.0034702). The present study consists of an questionnaire. Of course, the filling in of this questionnaire will be fully anonymous. The information obtained from it will be used for further scientific understanding of BIID, acrotomophilia and apotemnophilia.

Please let us know if you are interested to participate in this study, when you not already did or when you were not able to complete the questionnaire (e.g. due to technical difficulties). You can always contact us both in cases when you have further questions, or when you would like to participate in the study. We are happy to answer your questions and to give you more information about our research. Please do not hesitate to contact us. We highly appreciate your interest.
